Bravo! I have felt this way for a long time. Professional sports is one of the most boring topics to me, but I could talk about various aspects of Star Wars all day. If you still think I'm a nerd let's strap on the skates, cleats, sneaks, you name it, and have a little skills contest.
Nothing at all wrong with geek, but this video is brilliant in showing that those who can rattle of sports stats are indeed just like geeks/nerds who can rattle off intel processor steppings or pi to 30 decimal places (I can ) or have in depth knowledge of the star wars mythos.
The fact that sport nerds like to think of themselves above sci fi or tech nerds really does need to be addressed.
>> ^mundanest: Rugby is far more popular than basketball. Worldwide at least, not in the US.
I would guess that basketball is more popular. Especially if the metric is the number of amateur players. If it's the number of professional players, then I bet basketball still wins. Basketball is fairly popular in Europe.
P.S Nothing wrong with geek
